Here’s a kitchen for you. One of my favorites we did a few years ago and I completely forgot to post about because I’m bad at social media. It’s truly a Marshall Carpentry special, with unique door styles, painted oak for subtle texture, and as many walnut accents as we can find space for.

You can’t see it in these photos, but the bar area can be closed off with a pair of enormous folding pocket doors, painted to match the fridge wall on the other side.

I only had a 3’ lathe, but I needed to turn 5’ legs for a headboard. $40 worth of 2” angle iron and some serious clamping and now I have a 5’ lathe.

This was an interesting challenge. I helped a family tear out an old library made from antique barnwood, then redesigned and repurposed the lumber for this new house.

Getting crooked pieces level and bent pieces straight enough to continue the visual lines through the room took some concentration. A few times I worried the client would wonder why I was just standing around staring blankly at the walls. That’s the kind of deep thinking a remodel takes some times.

I’m pleased with the final effect.
